The project has its roots in a previous Grundtvig 1 project (Climbing Up - For a Supported and Shared Life of Women Victims of Violence) aiming at strengthening women survivors of violence living in Europe by the support and sharing of common experiences through a European non-formal learning approach

The central objective of the BACKGROUND project is the development of a course aiming at sustainably improving competencies of adult education staff in the area of violence against women in different institutional environment with the main purpose of supporting women survivors of violence.

The direct target groups are adult education staff with a special focus on trainers, teachers, social workers in public administration and NGOs as well as staff supporting women survivors of violence. The final target groups include women survivors of violence living in Europe.
