History
The BACKGROUND project has its roots in a previous Grundtvig 1 project (Climbing Up - For a Supported and Shared Life of Women Victims of Violence) which was aiming at strengthening women survivors of violence living in Europe by the support and sharing of common experiences through a European non-formal learning approach.
Within the three-year project (October 2003 - September 2006), women victims of violence had the opportunity to assist in the training courses that were specially adapted to their needs, to benefit from counselling and support services, and to carry out practical work in non-profit-making organisations.
CLIMBING UP created and implemented an innovative educational product in six European countries for women victims of violence. BACKGROUND was developed as a part of a strategy for a wider dissemination across Europe of the main outcomes.
